When many of us think of the gambler as a gangster, we usually tend to think of the days of the speakeasy and Eliot Ness. The truth is there are more times than not, when a gambler will turn to crime to get money to support his habit. It doesn’t have to be operating an illegal Poker game or blackjack in the back room of a legal bar—it can mean dealing drugs, auto theft or any number of other ways he or she can find to get the money necessary to support the gambling habit.
How often do you see a gangster and wonder if he is a gambler support a habit? It isn’t something that comes to mind when we think of the crime lords but more times than not they are either supporting a habit or using the money they collect from their crimes to gamble. The difference in this type of gambler and the “ordinary” gambler that lives next door is the gangster gambler has no intention of seeking help because he gets enough money from his crimes to support his habit. |
