 For the family of the gangster gambler things can be happy or sad depending on which end of the spectrum the crime lies. The gambler/gangster is on the lower end of the spectrum because he or she was unable to come up with the money necessary to support the habit and thus degraded himself to that of a gangster in order to have the money necessary to support the habit. For his family this means always watching their backs so that they aren’t caught in the middle of a gang battle or an arrest.
Those caught in the middle of either of the scenarios will have a great deal of problems with which to deal though less so for the gangster/gambler since the families do not usually know what they are doing—they just break the money home and the families are happy. Only if they get caught for one of their crimes do their wives and children ever find out about their secret life. The gambler/gangster, however, is a different story and though his family may not find out about his life of crime they will always know about his gambling. |
